Fountain of Life Ministries

In 1998 Bishop Cheggeh founded the FOUNTAIN OF LIFE CHURCHES. This fellowship of churches has over a hundred and fifty churches in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi. Bishop Armstrong K. Cheggeh serves this fellowship as its Presiding Bishop and General Overseer. He has over 140 ministers serving with him in these three countries. He has also been invited by two other fellowships of churches in the countries of Malawi and Democratic Republic of Congo.

They have asked him to serve as their adviser/mentor. He has accepted this responsibility, but has still to work on the modalities of operation. The two groups have been invited to take part in the forthcoming leadership conferences in August 2008, so that the Bishop will get the chance to discuss some of these issues with these groups.

Outreach Ministries: The Fountain of Life Ministries have spread fast across the land of Kenya. You will find their churches in Oloitoktok, Turkana District, Kwale District, across the Central province, Machakos District and around Nakuru and Eldoret.

Leadership: A ten-member Executive council headed by Bishop Armstrong Cheggeh leads this great fellowship. The other nine Executive Council members are: Rev. Solomon Waweru, Rev. Njau Gichira, Rev. Samuel Ntinina, Rev. David Kimani, Rev. Stephen Naibei, ;Rev. James Ngahu Gideon, Rev. James G. Kinyanjui, Rev. Charles Ekai and Rev. Benedict Katana. Under the Executive Council are Presbyters who serve each of the Presbyteries in their areas of service.

Special Projects for Fountain of Life Ministries/Churches

Reaching ten tribes: At present we are working among nine Kenyan tribes. The following are the tribes we are working with: Kikuyu, Kamba, Ngiriama, Duruma, Taita, Embu, Turkana, Maasai, and Il'Chamus. We have planted 125 congregations among these tribes.
Support for the Pastors: We need individuals and/or churches that may sponsor/support our church planters at $30 a month. This may not be such a large amount but it will make a difference in the life of some of African ministers, especially those in the remote areas.
Bible Translation: We are sponsoring the translation of the whole bible into the Il'Chamus (Jemps) tribal language. In December 2007 Bishop Armstrong and some of the National leaders of the Fountain of Life Churches conducted a leadership seminar for the Chamus in the town of Ngambo which is located in the heart of the Il’Chamus people. During this visit the Bishop was invited to minister to over 30 young people who had gone through the initiation ceremony which takes place after every ten years. After his message on “Being a man of Vision,” a dozen young men respond to the call to commit their lives to Christ. In both the August and December 2007 meetings with the Il’Chamus people, the Bishop assisted this tribal group to raise over a hundred thousand shillings to go toward the translation of their bible. This tribe has never had a bible in their own language. We are being coached by the Bible Society of Kenya, but we are the sponsors of the project. Recent Note From Translator To Dr. Cheggeh
Outreach to High School and Colleges: There is such a great opening to our High schools and colleges. Our teams travel to these schools and conduct outreach ministries. The results are very encouraging. 90 % of Kenyan schools are open to the preaching of the gospel within the schools.
Islamic Areas: Malindi and Kwale areas are some of the most Islamic areas in Kenya. We have been able to establish twenty-two churches in that region. We plan to do more outreach ministries in the coastal areas.
Schools of Ministry: We plan to build five schools of ministries: one in the coast (in the Islamic area), one at Nairobi (main school), one in Maasai land (we've already started the process of purchasing land for this school), one at the Rift Valley and one at Lodwar in Northern Kenya (We've already completed one building in Lodwar, except for a few touches. We will, however, need furniture and books for this school.
Church Planting: We've already planted churches among nine tribes but we plan to do more as the Lord opens financial doors and as our students graduate from bible schools.
Sponsorship of Bible school students: Presently since we have not built our own bible schools we have already sponsored 12 bible school students. Even as we write these details we have several of our students taking courses with the Vision International University. We are training another 50 students through an Extension Bible School. We will increase the number as soon as we have our own facilities.
Nairobi Land: By God’s grace we have been able to pay over half of the funds required for the purchase of the land in Nairobi. We still have a balance of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000). This is the most urgent project in our ministry.
Outreach to Street Children: We've been able to build one street children's home in the slums of Kibera in Nairobi. Due to shortage of funds we could not continue bringing in the street children, although we did care and raise several children in the past. We are not doing as much as we would love to do for the street children. The city of Nairobi has thousands of street children. Most of these are completely homeless and are in need of shelter, food, clothing and education. If the Lord touches you to assist in this project, we would appreciate greatly.
Leadership Conferences: We do sponsor the “Season of Refreshing leadership Conference,” in the month of August. To bring the preachers from the poor communities to this important leadership conferences and other such meetings we need sponsors to partner with us so that these men and women may be sharpened for the ministry.
Water Project: We have already purchased a drilling rig through our friends at the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, Millersburg, Ohio. We shipped this rig and all its accessories to Kenya in late last year. We Began drilling and have already done one bore hole, whose water will be piped to 4 villages. Presently we are doing a second bore hole for an orphanage. As soon as we raise enough funds we will be on our way to Northern Kenya to drill water for the precious people of Turkana, where this water project's vision was born.
Mission Trips: We do conduct Mission trips to Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, and soon to Malawi and Burundi. There are some ministries in both Malawi and Burundi who have asked to partner with us. We need Mission Teams from the USA to go and do mission projects in the area of: Preaching in Evangelistic crusades and leadership conferences, Street children outreach, High school outreach, Building churches, Church planting etc. Usually our short mission trips take two weeks in April, August and December. We are also in need of long-term/Career Missionaries.
Continuing Projects: Presently we have purchased over twenty parcels of land across the land of Kenya. We are also in the process of purchasing a piece of land in both Uganda and Tanzania. Some of these parcels are six acres, while others are just half an acres parcels. We have a debt of forty thousand dollars ($40,000) We need to clear these balances before we can begin other projects.
